Some tricks you should absolutely know to furnish your bathroom

Light
A bathroom can be cozier just having more light points, for example you can add a floor lamp. The light on the ceiling depends on the style of the furnishing (halogen light makes everything more modern, a chandelier more elegant and romantic). It should be placed in the middle of the ceiling and be able to give a very big light. Attention: the light of the lamps shouldn’t reflect into the mirror because it can be uncomfortable. For us women can be a problem, for our eyes when making-up for example. To have more light in your bathroom, you should add lamps at both sides of the mirror to reach a luminosity which is as near as possible to daylight. (I suggest long lamps, better than sharp ones).

Shower
A shower with glasses without tub is the best solution according to me. But I’m not talking about those old showers that are also very difficult to clean. The floor of your shower could be the same of the rest of the bathroom, even the same tiles you have on the walls, and if you choose something easy without mosaics, you will reduce the risk to slide. In any case put a filter for the water. In this way you will eliminate limestone traces both in the shower and in the washing machine.

Bath tub
The space is not too much but would you like to have a tub anyway? In this case a rectangular shape can be the right solution, better than a rounded shaped tub that will steal a lot to space. Cover its external side with tiles or mosaic and it will look less bulky. If you choose one with large sides you can use them to sit or lay something on.

Tiles
Tiles are the VIP in any bathroom. You have the biggest choice among design and materials (ceramic, lava stone, cement, glass). Any tile can fit any bathroom but the biggest is the room the biggest should be the tile. The bathroom can become more elegant if the tiles end at the height of the door creating a sort of frame (if this is to high for you, make it at least until 1,10 meter!). Squared tiles make the room easier. The space between a tile and another can be colored, it’s a very fashion solution nowadays. It’s better to choose a color that is next to the colors of the tiles themselves.

So: I think a bathroom is very important and shouldn’t follow fashion because you can’t change it any couple of years. So: good material, good quality, but not too fashion! This doesn’t mean too classic, you can buy news on the market but keeping neutral colors and working with a shop that has a lot of experience because you are spending a lot of money and you need a place where to buy that you can trust ( I’ll give you some suggestions at the end of this article).

Wood floor in bath: everybody says: absolutely no! I don’t agree. Wood can be ok if we buy strong wood as oak, teak, ash or beech wood. Its surface must be treated with proper waterproof oil, special wax or varnish. You can even buy wood that has right been prepared just to stay in a bathroom. When the wood is treated with oil it’s less slippery. Never use wood that has been glued or it can move because of the humidity.

Moquette
A news for the bathroom: if there is the label which say “it’s proper to wet rooms”, you can use it without problems. It depends on your tastes. To be honest, I don’t like it, I think it’s not healthy.

Wallpaper & Co.
The new stars in the bathroom are wallpapers! If they are treated with a proper varnish, they can survive even in a wet room. There are also tattoos for walls that you can fix with waterproof glue and they can stay on the wall without problems.

Heating
Heating can be decorative as well and have more than one function. There are some systems that are so thin that you can hide them behind a door. They can also look like a sculpture that decorates the room and even become a place to let your towels get warm. I like when my feet are warm and therefore I like heating at the floor. In winter you have to add another source of heating anyway.
