Even your house can have four seasons : Spring

As usual…. to see better “click” on the photos!

Everybody awaits springtime, the first sunbeams on our skin after a grey winter. Me for sure and also my house.

I love Christmas, I think everybody has understood that, but after Christmas time I’m the first one that throws away all the decorations. I want to have a lighter atmosphere and different colors. Away all the fur pillows in dark brown or dark grey and I run to the florist’s to buy a big bunch of white tulips!

After “cleaning” everything I go from one room to another to give any of them all the lightness of a new growing plant.

I change all the candles with the smell of winter and oranges into those ones with the smell of linen, flowers or fig.

All the decorations with warm colors will be changed into fresh colors. For example I have a huge squared Moroccan tray on the dining table in the living room that is my first victim: the white reindeers meets just for a second (the time I need to make the change) the Easter rabbits (Easter is a very short period, so I would like to give it a little importance). My rabbits belong to a collection I started years ago, they are of different models, made of white porcelain and lacquered cement, some of them are white, the other silver. I put them on the tray together with little candleholders and, if I have an important dinner, all the rabbits take a seat on a soft “bed” of moss ordered by the florist’s and they seem to be on the grass. This decoration is for me spring at 100 per cent.

In Germany we have a very nice tradition for spring: we take a branch of plants with just new born buds from our garden (ours, not our neighbor’s!) or from the florist’s,  we put them in a high vase (I use a basic simple one, but it’s up to you) filled with water and we decorate the branches with “spring stuff”  like little rabbits or real empty and colored eggs. You can find a lot of spring decorations in many shops.

My chandelier changes its “little hats” (lampshades) from black outside and golden inside into different pastel colors. Alls rooms are important as the living room and the kitchen (these rooms are considered the most important because we live them more and our guests as well).

I have a velvet quilt in my sleeping room, now it’s going to be changed into a middle weight light grey one and the pillows will get colored between beige and grey and made of cotton.

It needs a refreshing everywhere! Remember to bring out the linen curtains and put away the heavy ones.

The spring time wakes up the nature, our senses, we get a lot of energy and we want to start a lot of activities like preparing the garden for the warmer season, change the flowers in our flower pots etc.

We feel motivated, the days get longer and we need objects, decorations, colors etc. around us that can reflects our inner transformation.

I’m not the only one who feels like that, on my Facebook page “made in bettina nagel” I can also see when I post photos of flowers, nature, easy living style, open windows I find a lot of “likes”. Everybody loves this change from winter to spring and so live it and let come this feeling inside of our houses.
