Books: things from the past

As usual…. to see better “click” on the photos!

The times of paper books are far away: this is what people say, the future belongs to e-book. Photographic books are the only books will exist in our future. I really can’t imagine this kind of future as in 1988 I couldn’t imagine to use a mobile and it was even impossible to imagine me talking publically with one of them! “Time will show you” told me my father, and what can I say now? Time showed me it!

To be sure I’ve to be very quick in writing this article because it’s about books collections!

Everybody who has books at home knows perfectly they get more and more very fast. I always try to buy only some books and choosing carefully, but if you go to the kitchen to drink a cup of coffee and you go back you realize they are more uncountable then just a while before, this is the rapidity they enter into my house.

You try to tidy up your shelves, when they are too full you try to lay your books in different positions and then you reach that step when you lay the book you have just finished exactly in the place where you have read the last page, on your night table next to your bed. The pile gets higher and higher and my husband is seriously worried that one morning I’ll be under a lots of books and he will need a saint bernard with its grappa to find me!

So you need to think about all the books you have and decide which ones are really to be kept. And you see a book to relax your muscles…when did I buy it? Have I ever read it? No, never! On the contrary I meet old friends as Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, my Hemmingway’s collection and I know that these are my lovely books and can’t separate myself from them and the same is for the books that I sometimes read to relax. I have to divorce from one of them, but which one? My husband tells me that I have to leave all the books I have already read and I won’t read any more. It’s very nice but he has already reached the e-book world and he doesn’t have to do this kind of work. In other words: it’s impossible to leave my old “friends”, I can’t even imagine it! My solution is: my crime books can be given to somebody else because after reading them you know the name of the murder and you won’t read them! Other books can be lent to friends and in this way I can get some precious free spice for a while. And… if you want a book about muscles relax…well… I can give you something interesting!

I love books! I think it’s clear for everybody now. The only reason that could make me  buy an e-book is the weight of my suitcase that gets bigger because of the books I bring with me. This is really the only possible reason!!!
