In Spring and Summer we like wearing colored or basic white t-shirts like Julia Roberts in the movie “Pretty Woman”. Do you remember? At the end of the movie she wears a white t-shirt with a blue blazer. You don't see immediately the quality but you will discover it after washing several times. If the t-shirt keeps its shape and its original colors. Especially when we pay a lot for a t-shirt we are not very happy to find it immediately in bad conditions. Price is not an indication of good quality: everybody has understood it by now! So it's better to pay attention when you buy and remember some indications.

Seams If the seams are not made of cotton, they can melt when you iron (200 degrees are enough) and your t-shirt will loose its shape. When you buy it check the seams in the shop. If you see a shiny thread or a color that is very different from the color of the t-shirt, it's quite sure that it has nothing to do with the cotton thread.

Labels If it's written 100% cotton it doesn't mean that the t-shirt is completely cotton because industry uses chemical products to refine it to keep its shape. Sometimes it's better a mix of cotton and other fabrics to keep the shape, instead of using pure cotton and add chemical products.

Pilling Rub a coin for one minute on the fabric in little circles. If quality is good it doesn't suffer! Not good quality will soon have pilling!

Touch The quality of cotton depends on the fibers length of the seeds. The longer they are the better is the quality. We can feel it because the fabric will be soft and pleasant on your skin. If you feel that the fabric is rough and not soft enough, it has certainly been used a bad quality of fibers.

Color Make a test: take a fabric tissue that has to be a little bit wet. Rub it inside the t-shirt. If after this test the tissue is colored, it means that your t-shirt will loose color very easily and you'll not be happy for this.

Smell A good t-shirt has no smell. If you smell something sweet, acid or aggressive for sure the producers have used chemical products. This happens mostly with very cheap t-shirts. In this case it's better you wash them before wearing!
